The soft grass made no sound as your bare feet padded against it. Bowing your head, you gently placed a bouquet of gorgeous pink carnations on the worn gravestone, trying your hardest not to break down. It had been five years already, and yet you still cried every single time you visited his grave. Each day was harder and harder to live through, knowing his warm, strong arms wouldn't be around you to comfort you on bad days.
Shutting your eyes, you let yourself remember the times you had with your papa…
You were only seven years old, and had just been adopted by a kind looking Spaniard that spoke with a heavy accent. You'd never been so excited in your life to finally leave the hated orphanage. The man's name was Antonio Fernández Carriedo, and he came from Spain. He wanted a little girl; you happened to be the perfect choice.
Scooping you up in his tan arms, Antonio began to carry you out of the orphanage's old wooden door and towards a shiny dark red convertible.
"From now, you're going to be my little girl," he said cheerfully, nuzzling your cheek. You giggled – the sensation tickled. Hugging his neck happily, you rested your small head on his broad shoulder.
When the two of you reached Antonio's large wooden house, he unlocked the grand oak door and your sensitive nose caught a whiff of something delicious. Mouth watering, you turned to him and asked curiously, "What is that smell, papa?"
He tipped his head back laughed, a warm friendly sound that you wanted to hear more of. "Oh, that's the churros baking in the oven," the Spaniard explained, leading you down a long hallway and into a gleaming kitchen. The scent was stronger there and you were nearly salivating. Your stomach growled, and you blushed.
Antonio chuckled, and opened the oven, taking out the freshly done churros baked to a crisp perfection. He handed one to you with a gentle smile, and you wolfed it down like there was no tomorrow.
"Well, it's pretty late already, and you're going to school tomorrow, so why don't you go to bed? I'll show you where your room is."
You nodded, and as if on cue, yawned sleepily. Following him down yet another hall, you noticed a medium sized bedroom decorated with wallpaper dotted with light pink carnations. It seemed that Antonio had been preparing for your arrival. Pointing to the room, he said, "That room's yours. The one next to it is mine."
You hugged his waist tightly, and murmured a word of thanks and goodnight before heading into the clean bathroom to brush your teeth. Snuggling down underneath the warm down comforter, your eyes closed and you feel asleep with a content smile on your face.
The next day, you nervously entered the cluttered classroom, trying to gather yourself together. You had never been particularly good at making new friends, and it was your first day at the elementary school. Upon stepping inside, the entire class fell silent, scrutinizing you mercilessly with their eyes.
You heard someone whisper, "Ew, look at those shabby clothes…"
"She looks like she came from a dumpster." Another sneered.
Averting your gaze from them, you moved briskly to your seat located in the front of the classroom and sat down without a single word.
The teacher drawled with a lazy tone of voice, "This is your newest classmate. She was recently adopted from the orphanage."
Your cheeks burned a bright red as you felt the class' eyes boring holes into you.
The teacher slumped over in his seat, snoring lightly.
A slender girl with glossy blonde hair pulled into a ponytail sauntered up to you, a nasty smirk plastered on her pretty face. "Haha, where did you get your clothes? Mr. Trashcan?"
The entire class erupted into roaring laughter, and your small fists clenched in anger.
It turned out that Antonio really wasn't all that wealthy, despite the size of his house and car, so you were forced to wear the clothes his younger sister had long outgrown. You didn't mind at all, though.
"I bet the person who adopted you lives in a cardboard box under the bridge!" Somebody called out, and the blonde haired girl snickered.
You narrowed your eyes, seething with fury. "Don't insult my papa!" You shrieked, trying not to show how much their words had hurt you.
The girl just laughed harder and mocked, "Don't insult my papa!" in a high-pitched voice.
By the end of the day you had been reduced to a worn out sobbing mess, and ran all the way back home. There was no way you were riding the bus.
When you arrived, Antonio was standing by the door waiting for you.
"Welcome back, how was your-" When he saw your dejected face, his emerald green eyes widened. "Oh, what happened?" He asked anxiously, enveloping you in a loving hug.
Letting tears leak out the corners of your eyes, you told him the entire day's events.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. If only I had more money…" His handsome face twisted in remorse, and you shook your head vigorously; it wasn't his fault.
With a small sigh, Antonio opened his mouth and began singing softly to comfort you. His rich, warm voice filled the room and you looked up at him in awe. He was an amazing singer.
Come stop your crying
It will be all right
Just take my hand, hold it tight
He took your small hand in his larger tanned one and began to gently guide you up the stairs, into his large bedroom. Sinking down onto the comfortable bed, he pulled you into his lap and began to stroke your hair soothingly, continuing to sing.
I will protect you
from all around you
I will be here
Don't you cry
"Shh, don't let their mean words have an affect on you. I won't let anything happen to you, I promise." Antonio whispered, hugging you tightly. You leaned against his chest, listening to the rhythm of his steady heartbeat.
For one so small,
you seem so strong
My arms will hold you,
keep you safe and warm
This bond between us
Can't be broken
I will be here
Don't you cry
'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more
You loved the sound of his voice tenderly lulling you into a sense of peace and security. He would always be there for you; you were absolutely certain of that. Snuggling into him, you closed your eyes to focus on his song.
You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart, always
Why can't they understand
the way we feel
They just don't trust
what they can't explain
I know we're different but,
deep inside us
We're not that different at all
"Those people are only mean because they don't know any better. Their hearts are dark and cold." Antonio told you, kissing the top of your head gently. You nodded mutely, beginning to feel very sleepy…
Don't listen to them
'Cause what do they know
We need each other,
to have, to hold
They'll see in time
I know
The shrill screeching of brakes mixed with a dull crunching sound sickened you. A dark crimson liquid seeped from underneath the tires of the large blue truck. The driver clambered out of the driver's side, looking horrified. "Mon dieu, I am so sorry! What have I done?!" He cried out with a thick French accent, falling to his knees and wringing fair hands in distress.
You were frozen in absolute terror and shock. Antonio's battered, broken body lay underneath the vehicle, disfigured and mangled. His wavy brown hair was matted with thick blood, and there was no life in his beautiful green eyes. They showed only the pain and suffering he had felt in his last moments.
"Somebody call the ambulance!" The Frenchman shouted, and the sound of sirens drew nearer. Paramedics dressed in pure white rushed out of an ambulance and towards the bleeding corpse.
One of them shook his head gravely, voice laced with a deep regret. "I'm afraid it's too late. He's already dead."
Your twelve year old mind whirled, trying to process what the paramedic had just said.
It just wasn't possible. Antonio couldn't be dead. He just couldn't be. He was your beloved papa who always greeted you when you arrived home from school. He couldn't just be dead.
The song echoed through your mind over and over, as you stared numbly at the blood soaked pavement.
When destiny calls you
You must be strong
I may not be with you
But you've got to hold on
They'll see in time
I know
We'll show them together…
A warm tear made its way down your pale cheek as you gradually kneeled down, staring at the grave with the words 'Antonio Fernández Carriedo' etched into the cold stone.
"Thank you, papa, for everything. You taught me how to believe in myself and not let anybody get me down. I love you, papa. I promise I'll never forget you. You'll always be in my heart," you whispered, slowly standing back up to walk away and continue down the path of life that stretched out ahead of you.
'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on,
Now and forever more
Oh, you'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be in my heart, always

"_________, go get your stuff dear." The lady said to you. You nodded your head vigorously and bolted for your room. You were finally leaving this horrid place! Someone has finally answered your prayers. Alfred laughed at the sight of you being so should he say, rambunctious all of a sudden. Then the lady started to speak again as she poured coffee for them. "What made you choose her?"
Alfred thought about it for a moment. "You know, it's like
you feel a special connection with them at first sight
like true love. Don't you know that feeling Mrs.

"Mrs. Smitt." She said dryly. "And there isn't

Tears formed in your eyes as you watched your father kiss your mother. Mama was also crying.
“Please don´t go! Let them send someone else!” your mother begged. Papa shook his head making his black hair move.
“I can´t. I need to do this.” He replied dryly. You ran over and hugged his legs.
“Please papa! Don´t leave us! We´ll miss you!” you begged and cried into his pants. He sighed and kneeled down to your level.
“Don’t worry, my sakura blossom… I will always have you in my heart.” He said and touched your head. You looked up a

Please don't kill me ; A ;
----:Gilberts POV:----
The rain didn't let up one bit. I was pretty pissed at that but after a while my anger began to turn into slight worry. What if West doesn't like her?...nah I'm certain West loves kids!....I hope.
As I neared the corner I saw the house. A smile spread across my face as I stepped up the steps, holding the little girl a bit more tightly. She had fallen asleep but was still shivering. I banged on the door and jiggled the knob so West knew it was me. I hear loud stomping coming to the door. It didn't really scare me because I knew he was just mad. The door swung open and I quickly walked past
