Wang Yao tilted his head to gaze at the cloudy grey skies of Beijing. It was another day that held absolutely no meaning, because you weren't there to share it with him. "Name, why'd you have to die?" His cracked lips moved inaudibly, letting a single tear seep out of the corner of his chocolate brown eyes and fall onto his dark green army uniform. "Everyday is so hard to live without you with me, even though my country is prospering." Yao let out a small sob as he sank to his knees, shoulders shaking from grief. "I'll always wait for you, I promise. Wǒ ài nǐ, Name. Forever."
Little did Yao know that up in heaven, somebody was watching him very closely.

You lowered your eye color eyes, staring at the glassy reflection of Wang Yao on your personal crystal fountain's surface. "My love…" You whispered, letting a warm tear trickle down your cheek as grief enveloped your broken heart again. You hated not being able to run your slim fingers through his silky hair, or to kiss his soft lips. It was pure torture, knowing that you could never meet him again. After all, you were dead. No longer a living being able to walk the earth at Yao's side. Your throat constricted as you clenched your fists, quivering with misery. More than anything, you wanted to be alive again. Squaring your shoulders, you knew what you had to do. You had to talk to Mikeru, the King of Angels, and plead for him to enable you to return to earth. However, you knew he would require a hefty price for something that required such an immense amount of power.

The sound of your footsteps seemed to bounce off the clear crystalline walls as you steadily made your way across the pure white marble hallway, passing under a gleaming golden arch, headed for the Throne Room.
Upon entering, you quickly dipped down into a respectful curtsey, gracefully pulling back your long white dress and lowering your head.

"You may rise," a soft, but powerful ethereal voice murmured, and you stood up with a straight back and confident look on your face, although your knees were nearly knocking.
"Do not be afraid to look me in the eye," the same voice whispered, and you took a deep breath, gazing deeply into Mikeru's calm white eyes. They lacked pupils and had a very light bluish tinge to them, you noticed. The eyes seemed to stare straight into your very soul, which made you squirm uncomfortably.

"What is it that you need?" he asked you, leaning forward in his golden throne just a little.

"Mikeru-sama, may I please return to earth and be a living creature for all eternity?" You requested, trying to keep your voice stable although your lips were quivering with every word you spoke.

The King's pale, pointed face showed the teeniest hint of surprise. "Why would you wish to return to earth?"

"My lover, Wang Yao, remains there and I pine for him, Mikeru-sama." you answered honestly; desperately hoping the King of Angels would take pity on you and grant your request.

"I see. The man is the personification of China, is he not?"

You merely gave a single mute nod in response, feeling helplessness shroud your heart. There was no way he would possibly agree to send you back. It was hopeless; you would never see Yao again.

To your utmost surprise, Mikeru gave a slight inclination of his head. "You will not be allowed to return to Heaven and your wings will vanish once you land on earth. The only jewelry you may keep is the silver tiara on your forehead. Are you still sure about this?" the Angel King asked you, a hint of concern in his delicate voice.

"I'd willingly give all that up if I could stay with Yao for eternity," you stated solemnly, and Mikeru nodded once more, sensing the truth in your words.

"Very well, Name. Your wish shall be granted…" he proclaimed regally.
You felt your eye color eyes grow large with stunned delight.

Mikeru rose gracefully, spreading his grand snow-white wings, three on each side of his slender body. Raising a golden concert flute to his thin lips, he began to play an enchanting melody that swirled in the air around you, making it glisten and shimmer with magic. Glowing orange orbs made their appearance on the pristine feathers of his wings as he continued to play the song. The orbs circled you, their glows intensifying, becoming a blinding white light. Then, you felt yourself falling and falling through the never ending sea of pure white. Your eyes began to flutter shut, and your body succumbed to the weariness that cloaked you.

You woke with a start as your back hit the soft, spongy grass. It didn't hurt, but the impact had startled you awake. You sat up stiffly and turned your head to look at the bustling streets of people rushing to their destinations. No one even sent so much as a glance in your direction. You immediately felt out of place in your long white dress flowing around your sandaled feet. An extremely familiar voice caught your attention.

"Ah…I wonder what to do today, aru…."

You completely forgot about your attire as you screeched, "YAO!" and tackled him with your entire body, embracing him in a super tight hug. The two of you toppled onto the grassy terrain none too gently, but you didn't give a damn.

"Oh my goodness, I've missed you so much!" You half-sobbed, half-screamed. All the built up anguish inside of you was released in that one blissful moment full of tears mixed with snot as you buried your face in his warm chest.

"Aiyaa! What the hell are you doing, you-" Yao started to complain, struggling to get out of your grip, before his jaw nearly dropped to the floor. Shocked chocolate brown eyes gawked at you for a full two minutes before the Chinese man finally regained his ability to speak.
"N-Name…? Is that really you? My mind must be playing tricks on me, aru…" Yao whispered, tentatively stroking your cheek as if he was afraid you'd vanish at any moment.

"No, Yao! It's really me, Name! I've missed you so much!" You cried, cuddling him even closer.

"How…" he began, but you cut him off by pressing your lips desperately to his. Yao stiffened for a brief second before relaxing and kissing back.

"I asked Mikeru-sama to let me return to earth." You explained, finally crawling off of him and standing up to brush the long blades of grass off your dress.

"You look like a Tiānshǐ, aru." Yao murmured, taking a good look at you for the first time in what felt like forever.

You giggled, wiping the last of your tears away with one hand. "I was an angel, but now I'm an immortal human being!" You declared, twirling around so that the fluffy white skirt of your dress billowed around your long slender legs.

"I…I'm so happy, aru. I can't even stand up," he said weakly, cracking a feeble smile. You couldn't help but laugh. You moved closer to him and offered a small hand.

"I'll help you up, then." You grinned.

Yao took your outstretched hand gratefully and allowed you to pull him to his feet. "Let's go back to my house, aru." he murmured, and you nodded eagerly in response.
Clinging to his arm, you followed him down the long cobblestone path to his magnificent traditional Chinese home. It was incredibly large, and you knew that was because his siblings had once lived there before moving out to the countries they personified.

"Aiyaa, I'm exhausted now, aru. You scared the living daylights out of me, aru." Yao exhaled as he sank down onto a bamboo chair.

"Sorry, I was just so excited to see you and-" Yao put a single finger to your lips, silencing you.

"Shh, I'm just happy that you're alive again. You don't know how much I've longed to have you here with me, aru." he spoke softly, his warm brown eyes staring into your eye color ones. A solitary tear made its way down his handsome face and you gently wiped it away.

"I've always been watching you up in Heaven." You told him, hugging him tightly and never wanting to let go.

"I…I'm glad, aru. I never forgot about you." Yao breathed, slowly closing his chocolate brown eyes. Dark eyelashes brushed against his pale face as he added, "Wǒ huì yǒngyuǎn ài nǐ, Name."

"I'll always love you too, Yao." You replied softly, and Yao pulled you into a kiss full of an eternal love.

All along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more…
:iconheaddeskplz: Yes, I know I'm supposed to be writing my requests... But I simply had to write this. It's actually based off of this fanfiction: [link] , but you don't have to read it first if you don't want to. I'd highly recommend it though, the author (:iconprussianpersephone:) is FAMAZING.
This was inspired by 'Aiyaa Four Thousand Years' by Yuki Kaida and 'A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri.
Hetalia belongs to :iconhimaruyaplz:
You belong to :iconwangyaoplz:
Truth is, Mikeru is based off of the character in Mermaid Melody.
